The ipad is a great tool to motivate students and get them engaged in science and social studies activities and projects. This workshop will demonstrate several activities your students can do with ipads incorporating the science and social studies curriculum. You will walk away from this workshop with activities you use in your classroom tomorrow!

Materials needed for workshop:
Teacher iPad2
Free Apps: Zap’d, QR code scanner (ATT Scanner), PhotoWall Lite
Science and social studies activities usingeBook Magic: Examples – Science journaling, nonfiction and fiction student-created books correlating to content, student-created study guides, vocabulary notebooks
Create sample science journal entry (Use link or see QR code below)
Sci & Soc Stud activities using Strip Design: Examples – Creating diagrams, flow charts, sequence charts for illustrating/demonstrating a process; vocabulary illustrations with words/definitions; retelling big ideas with illustrations; documenting specific characteristics using photos and labels (properties of a mineral), geographical locations
Create flow chart (life cycle) or an acitivity using maps (Use link or QR code)
Sci & Soc Stud activities using iMovie: Student-created projects based on curriculum topics/content

- Use for online research; brainstorm with class for additional uses for science and social studies activities.
